The ASEAN Cosmetics Association, Inc., consists of organizations from different countries that aim to harmonize and maintain cosmetic regulations.

In February 2001, the ASEAN Cosmetic Association, Inc. decided to work with various lead countries in ASEAN to address the infrastructure needs/ program. This move is to support the harmonization of cosmetic regulations.

For Cosmetic GMP, Malaysia was chosen as the lead country; for Safety Evaluation/Post Marketing Surveillance , the lead country is Singapore; and for Asean Scientific Committee, the lead country is Thailand. CTFAS is proud to advise that they have submitted a proposal entitled "Safety Evaluation/ Post Market Surveillance Guidelines" to the Singapore Health Sciences Authority last June 2001.

The Health Sciences Authority and CTFAS will jointly conduct a survey starting from the second half of January 2002 to determine the number of companies and the number of products, of both Category I and Category II Products that require a Certificate of Free Sale (CFS) and a Certificate of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
